Halfway

Today is the end of week 6 of my assignment. I have made a paper prototype of my app that will be on display of Massey open day in wellington on Friday 28th of August.

This is a paper prototype of how my app will work.

Map idea

I have recently come across the map application that is on my computer. It is an awesome 3D map with a crystal clear representation of the coastline round Wellington. These satellite images are unreal, crystal clear and you can even see rock forms in the water!

Can even see devils gate!

Can even see Karori Lighthouse (sort of)

Paper prototyping

Lately I have been trying to sort a good layout for my app. Some things I need to think about going into the development stage are:

-Pin point accuracyof location.
-Bigger clock for user to read (being underwater will restrict screen vision)
-Remove the social aspect of my app and concentrate more on nailing the buddy and spot system
-Add safety aspect of notification/alert messaging system that buddies can use whilst out diving
-Track spots/buddy

App sketches

Here are some of my quick sketch ideas for concepts of what the app will look like. Trying to make the layout as simple as possible whilst still managing to fit my main features on the screen.
Main features include?
Menu
Spots
Depth zones
Compass
Buddy locator

Computerised some app slides for my tutor to get some feedback.

Here is some of the feedback I received..
Some of the main points I got:
Size of the compass on screen
where are my spots an how do I get to them..Navigational system
How can every the spearo needs be on one screen
Something to help the spear plan the dive
Have a live time on screen not stopwatch
Need the app to help the Spearo more
One thing is marking a spot, the next is to try find it again
A tracker..where have you been and where are you going
Get a depth chart in there for the water

Development sketches from feedback received..

This is an idea for a layout when I have to display my work this friday

Similar apps

Here I just screenshotted some other fishing apps that already exist. Just looking at how they structure and layout their pages and special features they may have.

Since my app will be used under water the user will need a life proof or water proof case. I know life proof cases aren't the cheapest. Here I found an alternative...

My response to my main location

My tutor gave me this worksheet to fill out when I was in a location where I mainly spear.
